Recycled Material

Our products are made using Foamex’s Styroboard XPS, which is made from up to 100% recycled polystyrene, diverted from landfill. Waste polystyrene is collected from communities across Australia, and developed into high-denisty XPS for the Australian construction industry. All manufacturing waste from our process is returned to Foamex for recycling.

Local Supply Chain

Foamex is the only Australian manufacturer and supplier of domestically produced extruded polystyrene, demonstrating its commitment to the local market. Embodying the principles of a true circular economy, Styroboard XPS is made from up to 100% premium-grade, recycled expanded polystyrene (EPS). By harnessing this environmentally responsible material, projects gain a distinct advantage in terms of integrity, safety, and durability while significantly contributing to sustainability efforts and the preservation of natural resources.

Foamex manufactures its products to suit the Australian climate. Imported extruded polystyrene does not always provide any guarantees about the grade of material used in the manufacturing process. Over time, extruded polystyrene that has been manufactured using low-quality input material has the tendency to rapidly leach out harmful blowing agents, which impacts the environment and affects functionally due to reduced R-Values.

By tapping into a local supply chain rather than sourcing low-cost imported alternatives, we limit the emmisions associated with shipping material for our products.

Eco-Friendly

Foamex XPS board is entirely free from Hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD), a flame retardant that was commonly used in polystyrene insulation materials. This omission of HBCD is highly beneficial as it promotes a safer and more eco-friendly solution for insulation needs, ensuring reduced potential for harmful chemical exposure and contributing to the overall improvement of environmental sustainability.

It is also CFC-Free and made completely without the use of harmful or ozone depleting chemicals.

Our cardboard packaging is sourced from 100% recycled cardboard.
