In January 2025 our team were commissioned to manufacture lightweight cornice for a major construction project of a temple in Port Moresby in PNG.
We worked with the team at Fletcher Morobe Construction on the design of profiles that would form the core of the cornice which will be installed throughout the building.
The scale of the cornice required meant that we had to work with EPS, which offers us a bigger raw material size to work from. In total, this project used over 34 cubic meters of high-density EPS sourced from Foamex Australia.
The Cornice Store team worked diligently with the construction company and architect to develop the spec for the foam core to suit the ultimate design requirement.
Using expertly manufactured foam cornice from the Cornice Store as a base for these cornice means that the handling and installation would be a much easier process, without compromising on design quality. The specifications also required a slip joint which will allow for some movement caused by seismic activity.
In total our team designed and manufactured 10 different profiles to be installed throughout the building.
In total, we made over 900 lengths of individual cornice. The process from delivery of material to ready for shipment took a total of 6 business days. The lightweight nature of the material allowed us to load the container for shipping in less than 2 hours.
